Plantations Beckon

How about a visit to a Cardamom Plantation? Take a walk among the tall leafy stalks of the spicy gardens where Cardamom, Pepper, Ginger and a whole lot more grows in abundance. The hilly mountains, the clean crisp air you breathe, the chit-chat of birds are all waiting to be explored. The plantation treks last a crisp two to three hours which means you can be back for dinner or lunch after clicking the most wonderfully scenic pictures around the emerald hills.

Spicy Trails

It is a walk of discovery. While you have always wondered where Vanilla comes from and how it could be so distinctively aromatic, now is the chance to know all there is about this queen of spices. A visit to the Vanilla Farm will bring you in close contact with the flowers, the unique pollination and the harvesting of the beans that give the world the most loved flavor. Then there is ginger – the spice that completes every dish. And Pepper, that spikes your meal and omelets.

Cardamom Drying Plant Visit..

Drying is the most important part of the process as it affects the quality of the final product. It is important to dry the cardamom capsules as soon after harvest as possible to prevent the loss of flavor. It is also important that the drying process is as short as possible so that mould does not grow on the capsules and the bright green colour is retained. The drying temperature should not be above 50°C as this affects the colour and delicate flavor of the final product. Misty Kolukkumalai

Kolukkumalai is one of the highest peaks in South India. So you can imagine the scenic natural beauty, the divine serenity, the calming quietude, and the panoramic sights. You will witness rolling hills and the mist streaming by. Each moment is one for a photograph to be ever etched in memory. This is an exciting and adventurous trip to the heights of over 7900 ft above sea level. This region is famous for tea plantations producing orthodox tea in a time-tested tea factory.

Elephantine Anakkulam

The word Anakkulam literally means the place where elephants bathe, in the Malayalam language. Herds of wild elephants regularly folk to this watering hole where they spend time leisurely bathing while the calf fluoric around. The trip calls for a jeep ride through steep curves and challenging heights. The route is thrilling and bumpy but sure to fulfill the adventurous streak in you. The chance to witness wild elephant herds in their natural environment is something never to be missed.
